Coach Pitts began her coaching career for the Sun Chiefs Women’s Basketball Program in 1994. She earned a B.S. degree from Judson College in Marion, Alabama and an M.S. degree from Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi, where she served as a graduate assistant coaching volleyball and softball. She began her coaching career at the University of South Florida in Tampa in 1980. She has had coaching stints at Judson College and the University of North Carolina-Pembroke during her 38 year coaching career at the college level. She has coached five different sports on the college level and has coached at NCAA Division I, II and NAIA institutions. Her teams have made appearances in 4 National Tournaments, 2 in basketball and 2 in softball. This season will be her 25th year as coach of the women’s basketball program at Coastal. Her team achieved a first ever national ranking for the Sun Chiefs in 1996. The ’96-’97 and ’97-’98 squad finished second in the state. The team placed third during the ’00-’01 and ’01-’02 seasons. The ‘06-‘07 team won the Southern Division Championship with a conference record of 13-1.
Both the 2012-13 and 2015-16 teams won the Southern Division Championship with conference records of 10-2.
